Early Childhood Educator

Overview

CEFA Early Learning and Junior Kindergarten located at 402 – 935 Marine Drive, North Vancouver, BC V7P 1S3 is looking for a certified Early Childhood Educator to join our team of experienced educators. The salary is $21.50 – $23.50 per hour depending on experience and working an average of 37.5 hours per week. This is a full-time, year-round position. Extended health, dental and disability benefits are available after six (6) months of employment.  Additional benefits include daily breakfast, lunch and snack provided, spring break and winter break off, paid sick days, tuition discount for your child(ren).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers

·         Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

·         Storytelling

·         Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest

·         Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

·         Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts

·         provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

·         Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

·         Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor

·         Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

·         Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

·         Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

 

Requirements and Qualifications

·         Must have valid Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate / Infant and Toddler Educators certificate to practice in BC

·         Must have valid First Aid Certificate

·         Must have valid CPR certificate

·         Criminal record check required

·         Previous work experience or practicums in an early childhood environment is an asset
