Chef (NOC 6321)

Little Bangkok Thai Kitchen, located at 2335 St Johns St, Port Moody, BC V3H 2A8, is currently recruiting a Chef (NOC 6321) for full-time, permanent position to start as soon as possible. This position requires a minimum of 40 hours of work per week. The successful candidate must be able to communicate fluently in English and must have at least 2-3 years of work experience or completion of equivalent in accredited training program for Thai food. Salary is $18/hour plus gratuities and dental benefits after a 3 months probationary period. Our restaurant is open from 4pm to 8 pm from Monday to Saturday.

Job Description:

  • Prepare and cook complete meal course or individual dishes using recipes
  • Work with the owner to prepare high-quality dishes in keeping with our restaurant standards
  • Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce sauce, remove allergy ingredients etc.)
  • Prepare and trim necessary ingredient for our menu (such as vegetables, meats, seafoods, etc.)
  • Prepare and make all the sauces being used for cooking
  • Ensure food is timely for all service periods
  • Participate of menus plan, determine side of food proportions
  • Effectively communicates with department heads in the food services, beverage, and related support and operating departments.
  • Maintains systems & procedures for ordering, receiving storage, preparation & service of food.
  • Ensuring all operations are compliant with sanitation regulations and safety standards (daily temp and, cleaning, COVID protocols, etc.)
  • Minimizing waste to ensure Food Cost meets
  • Train and supervise the kitchen staff in order to ensure productivity in the kitchen and assist as needed


  • At least 2-3 years of work experience or completion of equivalent in accredited training program for Thai food
  • Previous Thai food restaurant experience is preferred
  • Valid Food Safe certification required
  • Proven organizational skills, work well on own and others. Able to set and meet deadlines with quality results
  • High school completion is required. Formal training in Hospitality is an asset
  • Must have a good knowledge of Food Cost & Labor Cost
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
